Bible Reading 1 Samuel 10 – 12

Today’s reading (if you would like to read through the Bible in a year, check out the right hand side of A Jesus Moment and follow along) is 1 Samuel 10 through 12. These chapters record for us how Saul became the first King of Israel. Their desire to be like every other nation and have a King demonstrates that they don’t appreciate how amazing it is to be the people of God. I think hat when we choose the things of the world over the things of the Lord we are demonstrating the same attitude. There were a couple of verses that really jumped out at me.

1 Samuel 10:6 (New International Version)

6 The Spirit of the LORD will come upon you in power, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.

That is a verse worth pondering, and I will today, but I also want to take some time to think about this verse as well:

1 Samuel 12:24 (New International Version)

24 But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.

I will spend some time today considering (remembering) the great things that God has done for me, and I will take time to be grateful and give Him praise.
