Bible Reading 1 Samuel 25 – 27

Today’s Bible reading is 1 Samuel 25 through 27. Nabal and Abigail sound like an interesting couple. I got a kick out of this verse today:

1 Samuel 25:18 (New International Version)
18 Abigail lost no time. She took two hundred loaves of bread, two skins of wine, five dressed sheep, five seahs [a] of roasted grain, a hundred cakes of raisins and two hundred cakes of pressed figs, and loaded them on donkeys.

Just happen to have two hundred loaves of bread sitting around? Abigail is also really good at making apologies and David is so impressed by her that he takes her as his wife.

Today I am going to think about this verse:

1 Samuel 26:23 (New International Version)
23 The LORD rewards every man for his righteousness and faithfulness. The LORD delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the LORD’s anointed.

Faithfulness, righteousness, holiness, these are the qualities I long for and need in my life.
