Bible Reading 1 Samuel 28 – 31
Today’s Bible reading, found on the right hand side of A Jesus Moment is 1 Samuel 28 through 31. We are wrapping up 1 Samuel today, and the chapter starts out with Saul visiting a witch. Saul has fallen a long way when he has to resort to using a witch to try and find out what his future holds. How the mighty have fallen! While David and his men were with Achish, the Amalekites sneak in and steal their families and all of their stuff. David and his men pursue them and get back their families and everything else. The verse I am going to think about today is this:
1 Samuel 30:6 (New International Version)
6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
David found strength in the lord in the midst of his distress. What a contrast to Saul who went to a witch in his distress. Our strength is found in the Lord.
