Bible Reading 1 Samuel 4 – 6

By Steve

Today’s reading, (which can be found on the right hand side of the Jesus Moment site) is 1 Samuel 4 through 6. These chapters make it very clear that the ark of God is to be taken seriously. There are quite a few stories recorded for us in the OT about what happens when people are careless or thoughtless with regards to the ark of the Lord. It is important that we never take the holiness or presence of God lightly or for granted. I thought it was interesting that the guilt offering the Philistines can up with was golden rats and tumors. Now there is a gift everyone is sure to enjoy! Today I will be thinking about this verse:

1 Samuel 6:20 (New International Version)

20 and the men of Beth Shemesh asked, “Who can stand in the presence of the LORD, this holy God? To whom will the ark go up from here?”

In ourselves we are not able to stand in the Lord’s presence, but in Christ we have access to the throne room of the living God!
