Bible Reading 2 Samuel 1 – 3
Today’s Bible reading is 2 Samuel 1 through 3 (You can find the Bible reading for each day on the right side of A Jesus Moment. You should consider reading along and adding your thoughts to mine). The thought that I had as i was reading today was that these chapters are a lot like a Soap Opera. The Amalekite was probably hoping to get a reward from David. Some reward! The twelve on twelve in chapter 2 is kind of hard to picture. Michal’s husband follows here weeping until Abner sends him away. Joab ambushes Abner and kills him. As the Kingdom Turns.
Today I am going to spend some time thinking about this verse:
2 Samuel 1:27 (New International Version)
27 “How the mighty have fallen!
The weapons of war have perished!”
It reminds me of another verse:
Psalm 20:7 (New International Version)
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
What or who do you trust in? Is our trust in the Lord, or is it in our own strength, abilities, money, talents, ideas, schemes, strategies?
