Bible Reading Genesis 4 – 6

You should consider following the Bible reading plan on the right side of A Jesus Moment. If you take ten or fifteen minutes a day, you can read through the Bible in a year. I like to do the reading and then find one verse to meditate on throughout the day. Today’s chapters record the murder of Abel by Cain, the written account of Adam’s line that leads to Noah, and then the building of the ark. People lived a long time back then, which apparently gave them a lot of time to do things they shouldn’t have been doing. There is something that I have always thought interesting in Genesis 5:1-3:

Genesis 5:1-3 (New International Version)

1 This is the written account of Adam’s line.
When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. 2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them “man. [a] ” 3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth.

Adam was made in the image and likeness of God. Seth, after the fall, was made in the image and likeness of Adam. Something to think about. As far as my verse to dwell on today, I have chosen Genesis 4:7:

Genesis 4:7 (New International Version)

7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”

This reminds me of living by doing the next right thing!
