Bible Reading Joshua 13 – 16

By Steve

Following the daily bible reading plan found on the right side of the Jesus Moment site, is a good way to develop the discipline of spending time in the Word of God. When I read, I look for one scripture to think about during the rest of the day. Today’s reading is all about dividing up the promised land. It is a very detailed description of the boundaries of the land that is being given to the tribes of Israel. The verse that I will be thinking about today is Joshua 13:1:

Joshua 13:1-7 (New International Version)

1 When Joshua was old and well advanced in years, the LORD said to him, “You are very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over.

I think it is funny that the Lord says to Joshua “you are very old”. Perhaps there might have been a more diplomatic way to say that like, “you really have a LOT of experience!” However, even though Joshua is very old, the Lord still has a lot for him to do. As long as we live and are willing, the Lord can use us as His hands and feet.
