Bible Reading Joshua 22 – 24
ByI believe that the last three chapters provide much more interesting reading than the descriptions of the allotment of land that we have been reading through out the book of Joshua. I am sure however, the detailed descriptions of the boundaries of the promised land are probably very interesting to some people. There were a couple of verses that really caught my attention in today’s reading (found on the right of the Jesus Moment site). The first was Joshua 22:5:
Joshua 22:5 (New International Version)
5 But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to obey his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul.”
That verse struck me as a good life verse, but ultimately I have chosen the following verse to spend some time thinking about today:
Joshua 24:15 (New International Version)
15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Choose this day whom you will serve ….. as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. I think that this is a good verse to start each day with. Who will I serve today? Will I serve myself, or will I serve the Lord?
