Have You Had a Good Cursing Lately?

I was doing my Bible reading yesterday and I was reading 2 Samuel 16. In this chapter, David is being run out of town by his son Absalom, and along the way he runs into one of the people from Saul’s clan. This guy takes advantage of David’s bad situation and begins pelting David with rocks and shouting curses at him.

One of David’s men wants to kill the guy, but David won’t let him. David basically says, maybe God is in it so leave him alone. Then, my favorite verse in this chapter, and the title of the post comes is this:

2 Samuel 16:12 (New International Version)
12 It may be that the LORD will see my distress and repay me with good for the cursing I am receiving today.”

I love that answer. Next time someone is giving you a hard time, maybe there is a good blessing right around the corner. Of course, most of us would be throwing the rocks back before we ever got that far.
