May is for Love…bugs
This week Doug (my son) and I traveled to Williston Florida to spend some time with our friends at the church plant there. We had a great time being with everyone there and had a blessed time together in worship and Bible study. I introduced my ideas about the Ministry of Encouragement to the group that I will be sharing this weekend at the church in Big Pine Key.
On the journey from the Keys we had a very interesting encounter as we drove through Central Florida. We encountered Love Bugs. Lots and lots of love bugs. The most love bugs I have ever seen. Love Bugs are not new to Central Florida, I have encountered them in the past in my travels. They show up every May and September like clockwork. But I have never seen them like this. There were two occasions where our windshield had been hit by so many love bugs (they are called that because they fly around as a couple being very affectionate) that we could no longer see. At a couple of occasions we were flying through so many for so long that it sounded like a huge rainstorm was happening. We stopped at a red light and we were swarmed while we were waiting for the light to change. When we finally arrived in Williston the truck looked like it had grown a beard. Here are some pictures to document the encounter:
What I would like to be able to do is now give you some really amazing spiritual tie in between the love bugs and life, but I got nothing. I think you will get a kick out of the pictures, however, and perhaps this will help to validate my story of the “birds” on my last trip to Williston.
