Starting with a Big List
I am a list person. I have a couple of different lists. I have one list that I actually xerox as it contains the things that HAVE to get done every week at the church. There are about fifteen tasks on the weekly list. It has time lines and dead lines for things like Bible Study outlines and sermon outlines so that the people who take care of the bulletins and media presentations have time to get them completed. Then I have a second list which has more long term projects, as well as some short term projects that I would like to work on when I finish the HAVE to list.
I just wrote a big sub-list (of that second list) of things that I would like to accomplish today. I have learned something about lists, however, that I think is very important for anyone who is a list person to consider. Life is found outside the list. Even though I would like to accomplish the things on my list today, it is very possible that God has other plans for me. Getting on His list, in His will, on God’s Daytimer, is way more satisfying than finishing my list. With that in mind, I will start on the list and yet be looking for Him. Better is one thing on His list, than a thousand on mine!
